With more than 40 majors to choose from, our curriculum offers you unparalleled opportunity to pick your path and find the right fit for you, whether you’re interested in Natural Sciences and Mathematics or Social Sciences, or Humanities like History and English are more your style. 

Many of our majors also offer opportunities for internships and co-ops both locally and nationally, study abroad and service learning, where you make real-world impact on your community.

Why study Accountancy?

UC Blue Ash College (UCBA) offers professional certificates for students who have already earned a bachelor's degree and who wish to acquire additional skills and knowledge. Professional certificate programs generally consist of the technical portion of the college's two-year, career-oriented programs.

The professional certificate program in accountancy is designed to provide students with a general knowledge of accounting.

Accounting majors need people skills, the ability to communicate well -- both verbally and in writing -- and a strong quantitative background. 

Career Possibilities

Accountancy students can go on to positions in business, industry, public practice, and government. Job opportunities are numerous, because accountants are needed in such a wide spectrum of organizations. Examples of the job opportunities available to you include: internal auditor, general accountant, cost accountant, government accountant, nonprofit organization accountant, and inventory control supervisor. Many students use this program as a bridge to an MS in accounting program, or as part of a plan to meet the qualifications to sit for the CPA examination. Information about qualifying for the CPA examination is available at http://acc.ohio.gov/.

Minoring in Accountancy

This program is the equivalent of a minor in accounting for those who have previously completed a baccalaureate degree.

UC Advantages and Special Opportunities

The accountancy program at UC Blue Ash College (UCBA) is designed for students who wish to explore a new career field at a campus with smaller class sizes and individual attention from well-qualified faculty. The regional campus is conveniently located and has lower fees for tuition, technology, student life, and parking.

Special Programs

The program allows for maximum flexibility, with courses offered days and evenings. Tutoring labs in study skills, writing, and math are available at no additional cost for students needing extra help.

Admission Requirements

This program is open to students who have already completed a Baccalaureate degree (any major). Additional information about admission to UCBA is available on the college’s admissions web site: http://www.ucblueash.edu/admissions/index.html

Transferring to UC Requirements

UC Blue Ash College has an open admission policy (although some programs within the college are selective admissions.) Transfer students must supply official transcripts from each previously attended institution. Credits are accepted from any institution currently accredited by any of the six regional accrediting agencies. Credits transferred from another institution may not fulfill specific requirements for the degree. An official evaluation of transfer credit from other colleges will be processed after the student’s file is complete.

Changing Majors within UC Requirements

For current UC students who wish to transfer from one UC program to another:   
  • Fill out an Application for Change in College and Program form (sometimes referred to as the "On-Campus Transfer Form"). This form may also be obtained from your current college office.
  • Submit the completed form to the college which offers the program that you want to transition into.
Once you have submitted the form, the faculty and staff of your desired major will evaluate your academic record and communicate with you about the transition process.

Graduation Requirements

To qualify for a degree or certificate, you must fulfill the requirements of the program from which you expect to graduate and must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. It is your responsibility to take the courses necessary for graduation and to meet the UC residency requirements.

You must complete an Online Degree Application, usually the semester before you expect to graduate. You should see your advisor for specific information well in advance of your final semester.

Application Deadlines

UC Blue Ash College operates on a rolling admissions policy.  This means you can begin taking courses at the start of any term, not just fall. Application deadlines for each term are available on the UCBA Admissions web site: http://www.ucblueash.edu/admissions/steps.html
