Why study Pre-Business Administration?
Pre-business administration is an associate degree program that provides the basic curriculum needed for the first two years of a bachelor's degree in business. The program is transfer-oriented and is ideal for the student who is considering an upper-level business management career, but who wishes to pursue the first two years within a small campus atmosphere. The program is designed so students can earn an associate of arts degree and transition to the Carl H. Lindner College of Business (LCoB) at the University of Cincinnati. Graduates of this program may also transfer to other baccalaureate programs in business.
The various baccalaureate programs offered at the University of Cincinnati are designed to give students a diverse academic background with majors that include accounting, economics, finance, entrepreneurship, real estate, marketing, international business, operations management, and information systems. Students should consult the LCoB website for details about the major to which they intend to transition.
UC Blue Ash College advisors assist students in selecting majors and planning courses of study and in following transfer procedures to other colleges.
Business majors need people skills, the ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, and a strong quantitative background.
Career Possibilities
Students who choose business administration as a career field will be qualified for entry-level management positions in business firms, government, and nonprofit organizations. Generally, these positions will be in accounting, finance, marketing, production, purchasing, and human resources.
Minoring in Pre-Business Administration
Minors do not apply to associate degree programs. If you are enrolled in a transitional associate degree program, you will spend most of your classroom time acquiring the foundational courses for your four-year baccalaureate. Generally, you will select your minor when you transfer to your four-year institution.

Transferring to UC Requirements
UC Blue Ash College has an open admission policy (although some programs within the college are selective admissions.) Transfer students must supply official transcripts from each previously attended institution. Credits are accepted from any institution currently accredited by any of the six regional accrediting agencies. Credits transferred from another institution may not fulfill specific requirements for the degree. An official evaluation of transfer credit from other colleges will be processed after the student’s file is complete.
Changing Majors within UC Requirements
For current UC students who wish to transfer from one UC program to another:
- Fill out an Application for Change in College and Program form (sometimes referred to as the "On-Campus Transfer Form"). This form may also be obtained from your current college office.
- Submit the completed form to the college which offers the program that you want to transition into.
Once you have submitted the form, the faculty and staff of your desired major will evaluate your academic record and communicate with you about the transition process.
Students wishing to transition to the UC Carl H. Lindner College of Business must meet or exceed each of the requirements stated below. Please note that the collegiate grade point average for transfers from other colleges and universities may be calculated utilizing all course work attempted at each college and university attended.
- Cumulative collegiate Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale over all course work attempted.
- Must demonstrate appropriate progress toward completion of the required mathematics courses. Students enrolled in a bachelor of business administration degree must complete Math 1044 (Applied Calculus I) and Math 1045 (Applied Calculus II) (a 6-hour math sequence) or its equivalent, OR Math 1061 (Calculus I - 4 hours) and Math 1062 (Calculus II - 4 hours) or the equivalent from another institution.
- Must be in good standing in current college or university. Conditional offers of admission will be made using transcripts with courses in progress. A final transcript is required before the student is allowed to enroll.
