Why study Pre-Advanced Medical Imaging Technology?

The pre-advanced medical imaging technology associate degree program at Blue Ash College is designed to prepare students for application to the bachelor's degree program in advanced medical imaging technology (AMIT), which is offered by University of Cincinnati's College of Allied Health Sciences.

Currently, the health care industry is undergoing major changes in an effort to control costs and increase efficiencies without compromising professional patient care. In the past, this care was delivered through the utilization of health care specialists. Today, many employers are now seeking to deliver these services by utilizing the talents of multi-skilled health care professionals.

After completing the pre-advanced medical imaging technology degree, students will be prepared to apply for the bachelor's degree program which includes clinical internships in two imaging modalities: nuclear medicine technology and magnetic resonance imaging.

Students must have an aptitude for math and science. Successful health care professionals must want to help others, be able to work as part of a team, possess good verbal and nonverbal communication skills, and have a professional demeanor.

Career Possibilities

Advanced medical imaging technology bachelor's degree graduates are in demand by various medical imaging laboratories in hospitals, medical centers, outpatient clinics and research facilities. Advancement in this field may involve promotion to supervisory and administrative positions, equipment and pharmaceutical sales, product support or teaching.
