Why study Clinical and Translational Science?
The Certificate program is geared towards students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs at UC who are interested in gaining knowledge and experience in biomedical research. Course topics include: an overview of clinical and translational science, ethics, introduction to clinical trials, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and team-based research skills. The goal of the Certificate program is to prepare graduates to enter the workforce as clinical research staff.
Career Possibilities
The Certificate program will prepare graduates for challenging and fulfilling careers in clinical and translational research. Graduates will complete internships in both clinical care and biomedical research as preparation for research careers in academia or industry. The demand for clinical research professionals is high both locally and nationally, with a median income of $78,600 in 2024.
Admission Requirements
Eligible applicants must be current students at UC in good academic standing with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Application requirements include:

Personal Statement: Your background and career goals statement should describe your personal history and the factors that have brought you to where you are now, educationally and/or professionally. Include any past experience relevant to research, or future hopes to work in this field. It should also describe why you are interested in this program and how the program supports your career goals.

At least one letter of recommendation. This letter should ideally be from a professional or academic reference (e.g., work manager or faculty member).
