Undergraduate Majors
With more than 40 majors to choose from, our curriculum offers you unparalleled opportunity to pick your path and find the right fit for you, whether you’re interested in Natural Sciences and Mathematics or Social Sciences, or Humanities like History and English are more your style.
Many of our majors also offer opportunities for internships and co-ops both locally and nationally, study abroad and service learning, where you make real-world impact on your community.
If you’re not sure which major is right for you, you’re not alone. Many incoming students aren’t sure with path is the right one—which may be why many of our first-year students choose our Exploratory Studies Program. Through Exploratory Studies, you’ll learn more about what each major has to offer, and whether it’s right for you.

Why study Cybersecurity Engineering?
The B.S in Cybersecurity Engineering degree program at the University of Cincinnati integrates pertinent science and mathematics courses with electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, political science, and ethics courses in order to develop an engineer capable of designing, and analyzing systems that operate with confidentiality, integrity and availability.
- Coursework will promote your critical thinking skills in cyber security to be able to understand, measure and identify the security vulnerabilities and privacy risks of computer and communication systems.
- You will learn how to respond to unknown cyber security threats, test vulnerabilities in software and web application, reverse engineer malware, and how to build secure, robust and reliable computer and communication systems.
- During the last two years of your degree, you will sharpen your skills into emerging areas of advanced cyber security by choosing your area of focus:
- Cyber-attack and defense
- Network and data security
- Hardware and cyber-physical system security.
- During your studies, you will build an impressive resume and professional network through our nationally-recognized co-op program at companies such as Northrop Grumman, Booz Allen, Edaptive, Inc., and many others, as well as government laboratories such as Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the National Security Agency (NSA).

UC Advantages and Special Opportunities
At the University of Cincinnati, we believe that learning is doing and doing is learning. That’s why we invented the first ever Cooperative Education (Co-op) program in 1906. Today, it’s the largest of its kind in the United States. The Co-op model—which places students in full-time employment in their field—supplements the classroom curriculum to make for an educational experience like no other.
There are also opportunities to participate in NSF-funded undergraduate research.
Special Programs
Enhance your Cyber Engineering degree by adding an undergraduate certificate in Cyber Operations! This certificate program will further prepare you to enter the cybersecurity profession by giving you a deeper understanding of cybersecurity and additional skills in major cybersecurity areas such as cyberdefense, information security, network security, security vulnerability assessment, and cybersecurity policy and strategy.
Admission Requirements
Admission criteria for this program vary based on a comprehensive review of the relative strength of courses, academic performance, co-curricular activities, and supplemental information provided through the application.
First-year students applying to this program should also have completed the following college preparatory subjects:
- English (4 units)
