Undergraduate Majors

With more than 40 majors to choose from, our curriculum offers you unparalleled opportunity to pick your path and find the right fit for you, whether you’re interested in Natural Sciences and Mathematics or Social Sciences, or Humanities like History and English are more your style.

Many of our majors also offer opportunities for internships and co-ops both locally and nationally, study abroad and service learning, where you make real-world impact on your community.

If you’re not sure which major is right for you, you’re not alone. Many incoming students aren’t sure with path is the right one—which may be why many of our first-year students choose our Exploratory Studies Program. Through Exploratory Studies, you’ll learn more about what each major has to offer, and whether it’s right for you.

Why study Aerospace Engineering?

The University of Cincinnati’s B.S. in Aerospace Engineering Degree is the country’s second oldest program of its kind. Aerospace engineering takes a deep exploration of advanced science and technology in the design and development of flight vehicles; degree study includes the analysis and design of aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, rockets, and satellites.

At UC College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), it’s all about you – we strive to help develop you into the person employers want to hire. Throughout your time with us, you will:

  • Gain hands-on training in the fields of fluid mechanics, propulsion, structures, controls, and electronics
  • Take courses that cover the analysis and design of aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, rockets and satellites
  • Customize your experience with more than 600 organizations, including Aerocats, Hyperloop UC, American institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, SEDS Battle of Rockets Design Competition, and more
  • Build an impressive resume and professional network through our nationally-recognized co-op program at companies such as NASA, General Electric, Gulfstream Aerospace, TECT Aerospace, and the U.S Air Force Research Laboratory

Career Possibilities

Careers in Aerospace Engineering are challenging and stimulating. Possible career paths include:

  • Aircraft, spacecraft, and missile design and testing
  • Defense technology design
  • Space exploration
  • Aerospace product and part manufacturing
  • Commercial airline diagnostics
  • General engineering outside of the aerospace industry

UC Advantages and Special Opportunities

At the University of Cincinnati, we believe that learning is doing and doing is learning. That’s why we invented the first ever Cooperative Education (Co-op) program in 1906. Today, it’s the largest of its kind in the United States. The Co-op model—which places students in full-time employment in their field—supplements the classroom curriculum to make for an educational experience like no other.
