Why study Yoga Studies?
Students in the Yoga Studies Certificate focus on the history, theory, philosophy, and practice of yoga and how it can benefit them in their everyday life. Additionally, the principles gained from the certificate will give an understanding to the benefits yoga can have when integrated into other professional settings, such as exercise science, physical or occupational therapy, social work, mental health counseling, psychology, education, and more. The Yoga Studies certificate is interdisciplinary in nature, consisting of coursework from CECH, the College of Medicine, and the College of Arts & Sciences. Students will complete 8 credits of core coursework, 4 credits of applied Yoga Studies coursework, and 6 credits of electives for a total of 18 credit hours.
Career Possibilities
Students who complete the Yoga Studies Certificate will be able to: explain the foundational concepts of Yoga through in-depth study of the Eight Limbs of Yoga and the four Paths of Yoga; demonstrate simple and complex yoga postures through the incorporation of proper alignment and breathwork; apply various yogic practices in everyday life such as meditation mindfulness guided imagery and journaling; explain the mental physical and spiritual benefits of yoga practice and its applicability to the well-being of self and others. Graduates of this program will be prepared for the careers listed below. All opportunities may not be listed.

Admission Requirements
This program is open to all students (internal and external to UC) with a high school diploma or GED and the desire to succeed in college. Although admission is open, students accepted into the program must meet the academic standards of the program to advance to upper levels of study.
External Applicants:
- Must have high school diploma or GED
- Apply for admission to the certificate
Current UC students:
- 2.0 GPA with UC before applying and continuing in the program
- Apply for the certificate
Transferring to UC Requirements
To transfer to UC, you must be in good academic standing at the college or university you last attended.
Graduation Requirements
In order to obtain the Yoga Studies certficate, a student must:
- Complete all required course work and program requirements.
- Obtain at least a 2.0 university grade point average.
- Be in good academic standing; that is, not on academic or disciplinary probation or suspension.
