Undergraduate Majors

With more than 40 majors to choose from, our curriculum offers you unparalleled opportunity to pick your path and find the right fit for you, whether you’re interested in Natural Sciences and Mathematics or Social Sciences, or Humanities like History and English are more your style.

Many of our majors also offer opportunities for internships and co-ops both locally and nationally, study abroad and service learning, where you make real-world impact on your community.

If you’re not sure which major is right for you, you’re not alone. Many incoming students aren’t sure with path is the right one—which may be why many of our first-year students choose our Exploratory Studies Program. Through Exploratory Studies, you’ll learn more about what each major has to offer, and whether it’s right for you.

Why study French/English Translation Studies?

This certificate is a pre-professional program intended to provide students in French with an introduction to the methods and techniques, problems, technology, practical experience, and theory of translation of the written word. This certificate helps fulfill the need for basic education and training of translators for employment or to enable them to pursue more advanced studies.

Career Possibilities

There is a steadily growing demand for translators. Careers are available in public and private sectors, including the medical field. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor: “Employment of interpreters and translators is projected to grow 19 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations. Globalization and large increases in the number of non-English-speaking people in the United States will drive employment growth. Job prospects should be best for those who have professional certification.” (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, Interpreters and Translators, on the Internet, April 2020)
