With more than 40 majors to choose from, our curriculum offers you unparalleled opportunity to pick your path and find the right fit for you, whether you’re interested in Natural Sciences and Mathematics or Social Sciences, or Humanities like History and English are more your style. 

Many of our majors also offer opportunities for internships and co-ops both locally and nationally, study abroad and service learning, where you make real-world impact on your community.

Why study Directing for Film and Television?

Now more than ever, the world needs content creators. This certificate will help students ranging from those who want to be film and television directors to students of of any major gain media production skills. For the aspiring filmmaker, they will leave having developed a body of work to begin their artistic career. For those looking to go into marketing, you will have the ability to produce commercials and media for advertising. For those going into other fields, media production skills will make you more employable in the professional world as media becomes an increasing part of all disciplines. 

Every piece of digital media that you watch, whether it is a film, series, commercial, web content, news article or more is the product of a director with a vision who saw it through! Look around you; you are surrounded by success stories every time you see a piece of digital media. Steven Spielberg was born in Cincinnati! There is no reason the next big director cannot be you!

Admission Requirements

Students already pursuing a degree in any college at UC can add the certificate to their program. Be sure to submit a declaration of the certificate program using our certificate declaration form.

In addition, you must meet with the program director so that they are aware that you are pursuing the certificate and can advise you appropriately. Do this early enough to avoid delay in obtaining your certificate.

Students not currently pursuing a degree at UC may declare the certificate after establishing non-matriculated status.

Accreditation

The University of Cincinnati and all regional campuses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
